In 2022 Hope Biosciences provided Mesenchymal Stem Cell therapy to a 65-year-old woman who had battled Lupus for almost 30 years. The patient had tried over 17 medication regimes, including chemo, to attempt to control her Lupus (SLE). She was initially enrolled as a participant in a study designed to provide immune protection against COVID-19 – it wasn’t about Lupus. However, it became clear that the treatment improved her Lupus symptoms and functionality greatly. So much so that it led to the patient's physician discontinuing her Lupus treatment. Following this unanticipated result she was approved to receive a set of nine infusion treatments to specifically treat her Lupus symptoms. Today she is in remission.
